The Outreach Science Educator supports the Saskatchewan Science Centre mission of igniting scientific curiosity in Saskatchewan residents through the delivery of the Go Science and Go Code Outreach programs. The programs aims to engage participants through hands-on programming, exhibit interpretation and science communication. The Outreach Science Educator is directly responsible for the delivery of programs conducted throughout Saskatchewan including school workshops, stage shows, special events, and summer education programming.

The Outreach Science Educator travels throughout the province representing the Saskatchewan Science Centre and carrying out its mission. In addition to the facilitation of the Outreach programming, the Outreach Science Educator carries out similar programming such as school workshops, day camps, events and exhibit interpretation at the Saskatchewan Science Centre.
- Must currently be a full-time student
- Must be planning to return to school in the fall semester as a full-time student
- Are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and are legally entitled to work in Canada
- Between 16 and 30 years of age
- Must meet availability requirements of position

**Responsibilities**:
**Delivery of Outreach programming including**:

- _Technology Based Education Program Delivery_ - The promotion of digital literacy, coding and robotics-based education are critical skills for the future of STEM education. We are looking to develop and deliver an extensive coding program.
- _School Workshops_ - The SSC Outreach programs deliver school programming to students in pre-kindergarten to grade 12.
- _Community Programs and Satellite Day Camps_ -Outreach leads and facilitates programs for libraries, recreation programs, as well as special interest groups and events. We also host day camps in rural and underserved locations.
- _Demonstrations_ -Outreach performs demonstrations and shows throughout Saskatchewan at both indoor and outdoor venues.

**Science communication - **The Outreach Science Educator promotes the exploration of science, technology, engineering arts and math (STEAM) through exciting and engaging programming. This involves presenting and facilitating learning for children with varying learning needs. A strong stage presence and/or the ability to elevate lessons is an asset.

**Customer service and promotion** - The Outreach Science Educator will communicate with potential booking locations to assist them in booking an outreach visit and to promote the programs. The Outreach Science Educator acts as an ambassador for the SSC while on the road and within the SSC.

**Program development and improvement - **The Outreach Science Educator contributes to the ongoing development and improvement of programming. This includes researching new areas of development, testing new programs with visitor audiences and evaluating a programs relevance.

**Staff supervision and training**:

- The Outreach Science Educator act as the leader to summer students and part time staff while on the road and within the SSC. This includes providing training in for programs and classroom management techniques.

**Program Administration - **The Outreach Science Educator will assist in the organization of Outreach events and travel. This includes the organization of travel, making related bookings and following policies related to purchasing and expenses. They are responsible for ensuring that proper reporting is followed.

**Other duties - **The Outreach Science Educator may be asked to carry out other tasks as assigned within the provision of programming.

**Qualifications**:

- Some post-secondary education in science, computer science, education, interpretation or related field
- Experience delivering STEM programming
- Experience teaching or instructing a variety of age levels
- Willingness to travel during work term
- Experience in program delivery and development
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Flexibility and openness to a constantly changing environment
- Criminal Record Check w/ Vulnerable Sector Check
- Be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
- Be able to work on your feet for extended times
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Training

**Working Conditions**
- This is a temporary full-time position and falls under the salary grid 2.5.
- **This position requires you to travel. ** Weekday availability will be required, with some evening and weekend availability being required.
- The Saskatchewan Science Centre will provide meal per diems, a vehicle, and will also cover accommodation.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 16 weeks
