Are you a hands-on leader with a passion for operations? Our family-owned farm is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Operations Manager to join our team. You will be essential to our success, overseeing all aspects of our farming operations, from managing our crews to ensuring safety and high-quality horticultural standards are met.

We are a family owned and operated Canadian business that is proud to have been producing high quality horticulture products since 1928. We are looking for an Assistant Operations Manager to assist, and ultimately replace, the owner in running a team of 25-50 workers in our fields and warehouse at our farm in Abbotsford.
- A natural leader: You have a proven ability to train, motivate, and manage field crews to achieve peak productivity and maintain a positive, safe work environment.
- Exceptionally organized: You excel at logístical planning and coordination, keeping all aspects of the farm running smoothly, especially during the demanding peak seasons.
- Horticultural experience is an asset
- Ability to speak Spanish and Punjabi is an asset
- A post-secondary degree is an asset

**Responsibilities**:

- Crew management: Lead, train, and manage seasonal and year-round crews, fostering strong teamwork and communication.
- Assists owner with day-to-day running of the farm and warehouse
- Field operations: Oversee and coordinate daily field tasks, such as planting, pruning, cultivating, and harvesting, ensuring exceptional quality and efficiency.
- Develop relationships and strategies to increase productivity
- Project planning: Manage projects from conception to completion, including planning and executing new plantings and other farm improvements.
- Operational planning: Develop and implement strategies to maximize crop yields, maintain quality standards, and optimize resource allocation.
- Staff Record-keeping: Maintain precise production and labor records to support better planning and decision-making.
- Monitoring availability and flow of personnel as well as hiring, payroll, motivating and assigning teams to projects
- All management tasks including annual reviews, disciplinary action, schedules and supervising
- Represents the Health and Safety Committee for the farm and understands WorkSafe BC obligations
- Ensure proper quality control measures are enforced with consistency
- Involved in packing and prepping perennials for shipping

**Required Skills**:

- Experience in operations, farm management, or a related field.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
- Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and listening skills
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, with flexibility for long hours during peak seasons.
- Ability to multi-task - not afraid to get your hands dirty.
- Ability to speak Spanish and Punjabi is an asset
- A post-secondary degree is an asset
