Since we operate inside a healthcare facility, health clearance is required before joining our team. Part of that health clearance process is providing proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or providing a documented exemption to be approved by Hamilton Health Sciences.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assists in the supervision and preparation of daily food production for Nora’s Fresh Café, Atrium Café, Hummingbird Café and catering functions
- Supervises kitchen operations in the absence of the Food Service Manager
- Communicates and gives direction to kitchen staff effectively as needed
- Strives to maintain excellent customer relations at all times
- Assists in training kitchen employees
- Practices proper operation of equipment
- Enforces portion control and minimizes waste to effectively maintain cost of goods
- Monitors waste daily and reacts accordingly
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ensures all health regulation guidelines are followed
- Ensures the kitchen and food preparation areas are clean and organized at all times
- Ensures food quality standards are met at all times
- Conducts Food Safety Audits regularly
- Assists in all quarterly inventories
- Assists with daily ordering of product in order to meet customer needs and financial targets
- Completes other duties as assigned by the Food Service Manager

**Qualifications**:

- 3-5 years related work experience.
- Knowledge and experience in food preparation, cooking and serving.
- Ability to prepare for large quantities including catering
- Ability to supervise others effectively
- Familiar with sanitary requirements related to food production
- Able to prioritize tasks and take initiative
- High standards for food quality and presentation.
- Has completed Safe Food Handling course or is willing to do so
