Appointed by the Ontario Government as “Lead Agency for Child/Youth Mental Health (CYMH) System Management” in London-Middlesex (2014), accountable for community-wide Child/Youth Mental Health System Planning.
**Position Summary**:
The Clinical Manager for Intensive and Community Team provides clinical and administrative leadership to a multidisciplinary team serving children and adolescents (ages 5-18) with serious and complex mental health challenges. The role focuses on ensuring holistic, family-centered, trauma-informed services that promote community stability, academic success, and improved family functioning. The manager ensures fidelity to the ACT model while adapting care to the unique needs of youth and their families.
In this role, you will have additional responsibilities and clinical oversight to our Community Mental Health Treatment Team. This role is accountable to provide high quality, patient centered treatment to clients and families accessing outpatient mental health treatment. Additionally, the Clinical Manager plays a key role in fostering a team culture of clinical excellence and operational efficiency.
This role reports to the Director of Clinical Services, the Manager provides clinical leadership and supervision to health professionals working in interdisciplinary teams working in community and intensive programs and services. Our compassionate and experienced staff provide high quality mental health treatment to children with complex social, emotional, and mental health needs using a trauma informed approach. The Manager will have a strong commitment to quality, and will plan, implement, and evaluate clinical programs and services, participate in quality improvement projects, and collaborate with community partners to build a responsive system for children and families requiring mental health treatment and support.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team including therapists, case managers, nurses, allied health, physicians, peer support, family advocates, and school liaisons.
- Lead and supervise other community team(s) as well.
- Oversee the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans that address clinical, educational, social, and familial needs.
- Conduct daily team meetings and clinical case reviews to coordinate care and monitor client progress.
- Ensure services are delivered in accordance with the Child, Youth and Family Services Act (CYSFA)
- Provide clinical supervision to team members.
- Coordinate crisis response planning, including safety assessments, hospital diversion strategies.
- Foster partnerships with schools, child welfare agencies, juvenile justice, and other community resources.
- Monitor program outcomes, participate in audits, and lead quality improvement initiatives.
- Support family engagement and culturally responsive practices in all aspects of care delivery.
- Maintain required documentation and utilize electronic health records to track services and outcomes.
**Education/Training/Experience**:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Nursing, or a related health field.
- Must be a member of a regulated college and in good standing (one of the six colleges recognized by CRPO).
- Minimum of 3-5 years clinical experience with children/youth with complex and acute mental health challenges, preferably in community-based or intensive settings.
- 1-3 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Familiarity with evidence-based practices for children/youth (e.g., TF-CBT, DBT, family therapy).
- Strong knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, family systems, and the impact of social determinants on youth mental health.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience working with diverse populations and navigating school, child welfare, and juvenile justice systems.
- Experience in leading teams in a unionized setting and implementing human resource policies and practices and leading in a unionized environment.
- Specialized training in a variety of treatment modalities that are consistent and integrated within Vanier’s Service Delivery Framework.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the community.
