As a **Full-Time Night Attendant **for our **Special Needs respite program in Richmond,** you will have the opportunity to be a part of a team that provides support, care, and mentorship to young children and/or youth with autism and special needs in a respite home setting. Applicants must be comfortable supporting clients with hygiene needs. There are two positions available for the lines of **Tuesday-Saturday, 11pm-7am shifts. **Once the duties of the shift are completed, the Night Attendant is permitted to sleep. Should the client wake, the Night Attendant is required to attend to or provide assistance to the client.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in a related field and/or equivalent experience working with children/youth with autism
- Minimum one year of experience working with children/youth with autism and/or complex mental health and behavioural challenges
- Must be comfortable with hygiene support for children/youth clients, both female and male
- Knowledge of supportive strategies, needs, and risk assessment
- Knowledge of therapeutic approaches
- Effective de-escalation and crisis management skills
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication
- Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check and Ministry of Children and Family Development consolidated check
- Proof of COVID-19 double vaccination record
- Valid Driver's License is an asset

**A sample of what you’ll be doing**:

- Maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the home
- Building positive working relationships with the youth, their families, community members, and other professionals (e.g. social workers, probation officers)
- Facilitating recreational and/or educational activities
- Driving clients to and from school, appointments, outings, etc. as needed
- Attending school meetings and case conferences when required
- Encouraging and modeling acceptable social standards and setting and maintaining appropriate limits
- Collaborating with the clinical team and providing input into assessments and youth care plans
- Performing household maintenance duties, preparing meals, administering medication

**Salary**: $21.00-$22.00/hour plus benefits
