Reporting to the Manager of Indigenous Education, the Professor, Indigenous Curricula & Programs, is a faculty position that will provide guidance to support faculty with the design, development and/or revision of Indigenous-related programs, courses, and curriculum across various academic divisions.

**What you’ll be doing**:
The duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

- Collaborate with various stakeholders including individual faculty, curriculum teams and Associate Deans on the design, development, and revision of Indigenous-related College programs.
- The faculty member will work with the Centre for Indigenous Relations, Knowledge, and Learning (CIRKL) to support the development and implementation strategy of Indigenous Knowledge Learning Outcomes (IKLOs) at the college and create tools and resources to help embed IKLOs in programs of studies, as part of the Strategic Plan.
- Support faculty throughout the learning outcome, curriculum design, and development process while advising on a variety of teaching and assessment strategies, tools, materials, and resources, the integration of web-based approaches, and active learning opportunities that will allow Mohawk College students to better understand Indigenous Peoples, histories, cultures, and realities.
- Ensure cultural sensitivity and relationship building when working closely with Elders and Knowledge Keepers on curriculum development.
- Create space for Indigenous knowledge within the curriculum while adhering to quality standards.
- The faculty member will consult with Mohawk College’s Indigenous Education Council members, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers to build a safe learning environment that respects Indigenous cultures and identities.
- Work with faculty and staff to conceptualize, plan, design, develop and revise curriculum to include Indigenous ways of Knowing and Doing, formal methodologies, and evidence-based principles of learning design.
- Work with faculty members teaching Indigenous Studies courses, supporting teaching and curriculum design skills.
- Using model curricula, and content research sources, advise faculty and staff on the evaluation of program/course content that aligns with Indigenous learning principles.
- The faculty member will guide and coach faculty to incorporate principles of learning theory, especially as it relates to Indigenous learners, into the curriculum design process, including strategies and tools for online delivery.
- Advise and assist the academic departments with respect to Indigenous curriculum design, development, and delivery.
- Coordinate the planning and design of infusing Indigenous content within interdisciplinary curriculum.
- Support program review, as facilitated by the Centre for Teaching and Learning, for Indigenous-related programs.
- Participate in College committees that deal with curriculum strategy, quality and policy.
- Participate in a provincial network of curriculum specialists to identify and share best practices in curriculum.

**What you’ll bring to the role**:

- **Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous knowledge systems and teaching and learning practices; decolonization in educational contexts.
- A positive, collaborative approach to work organization, community, consultation, and proactive communication.
- Strong understanding of Indigenous pedagogy, epistemologies, and land-based learning including outcomes and assessments.
- Knowledge grounded in community teachings, e.g. the teachings of the Good Mind, the Seven Grandfather Teachings, or other community-based guiding principles.
- Practices culturally appropriate ways of engaging Indigenous communities.
- Knowledge of Indigenous issues and experience in navigating difficult conversations towards positive learning experiences.
- Proven ability to plan, implement and evaluate educational/curriculum using the formative evaluation approach.
- Experience with the design and development of blended and fully online programs and courses.
- Experience using a Learning Management System and the tools that enhance learning.
- Familiar with quality improvement strategies relevant to post-secondary education.
- Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
