Huddle - Peer to Peer Support

**About the Role**
Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the Peer to Peer Support worker provides ongoing support and assistance to Huddle and its participants. Ka Ni Kanichihk Huddle (Formerly Ka Ni Kanichihk Youth Hub) is a program geared towards youth aged 12 to 29 years old. Huddle is a space where folks can access services such as peer support, advocacy, ceremonies, cultural healing, harm reduction, primary health care, mental health care, and drop in times. All guided and based in the traditions and ways of doing.
The Peer to Peer Support worker will work with the Huddle team to ensure the drop in and program runs effectively; preparing and serving meals, tracking intakes and collecting statistics, building mentorship relationships, directing youth to resources, cleaning, getting groceries and other supplies as needed. The Peer to Peer Support worker supports and provides the Huddle team assistance with facilitation of programming, general upkeep of the program space, and ensures that the program inventory is being tracked effectively.

- Demonstrated commitment to the strengths and values of Indigenous knowledge, the rights of Indigenous people, cultural reclamation, and traditional practices.
- Knowledgeable and current on community resources, tools, and information
- High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility and adaptability
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
- Experience working with youth and facilitating groups
- Ability to communicate, interact, and engage with youth and other staff
- Ability to prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines;
- Proficient record keeping ability including report writing, case notes and data collection
- Strong organizational skills, computer proficiency,
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, commitment to empathetic and professional behavior
- Mediation, de-escalation conflict resolution skills
- Clear Criminal Record Check, Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle, and Child Abuse Registry Check
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, First Aid CPR, Food Handlers are not required but an asset
- Must be prepared to work 40 hours a week with flexible hours including some weekends, and evenings.
