Buyer

The Procurement - Buyer is responsible for the Direct and/or Indirect Material & MRO Procurement activities of the company in a timely, efficient, and safe environment and ensures quality of product and service provided by both GN Corporations and its Suppliers. The Procurement - Buyer ensures that quality assurance is in accordance with expectations set out in quality procedures, quality assurance manual and work instructions and is equal to the requirements of the ISO9001 Standard.

**Specific Functions**
- Manage day to day direct and/or indirect procurement function of purchase requests to purchase orders
- Issues Purchase Orders and manages the authorization process for all purchase requisitions. This will include CNC Machine tools, fixtures, spare parts, direct and/or indirect materials / MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operation supply) and capital equipment.
- Assist in development financial analytics to support commercial term negotiations with performance dashboards and ROI based evaluation tools
- Leads the negotiation strategy of direct and/or indirect procurement activities including major subcontracts
- Identify and lead developing new sources keeping abreast of supplier products, services and capabilities
- Identify cost savings opportunities and manages cost reduction activities to achieve annual cost reduction goal
- Initiate and execute vendor optimization plans for existing vendors to deliver cost reduction, supply assurance, and quality improvement
- Maintain AVL (Approved Vender List), Supplier Scorecard and Supplier NCR (receiving and manufacturing)
- Undertake other duties from time to time as directed by supervisor.
- **Additional Responsibilities & Duties**:

- Participate actively in training, operational improvement teams, preventative and corrective actions and identifying non-conformities.
- Responsible for the correct use protective clothing and equipment as provided by GN Corporations Inc. and for guarding against misuse or damage to such equipment.
- Responsible for reporting any hazardous situations arising in the workplace that cannot be self-corrected, or injury incurred during work, no matter how minor.
- Responsible for avoiding injury resulting from manual handling tasks associated with his/her employment, by use of risk assessment, correct mechanical handling equipment and appropriate manual handling techniques.
- **Industry Standards and Regulations** - Be familiar with all relevant industry standards, recommended practices and regulations. Monitor self-compliance with company, industry, environment and government requirements as well as promote their acceptance in all aspects of company business.

**Minimum Job Qualifications**
- Proven 2 years’ successful experience as a direct and/or indirect material - CNC Machine tools, fixtures, spare parts purchasing role dealing with North American and International suppliers.
- Must have demonstrable experience of successful negotiation of pricing and delivery.
- Knowledge and experience of raw material of steel, aluminum and machining process strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and evaluate engineering drawings and specification.
- Knowledge of market research, data analysis and purchasing best practices.
- Practical experience of using electronic communication methods to keep track of purchase orders, delivery times, transport costs and performance evaluation.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Excel, and MRP/ERP systems
- Demonstrate an aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine solutions for customers.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Must be results-orientated and able to work independently.
- Have a post-secondary degree in a technical/engineering, mechanical engineering (preferred)
