The National Judicial Institute (NJI) is an independent, bilingual, not‐for‐profit organization, based in Ottawa and Montreal, with a mandate to coordinate and deliver educational programming to members of the judiciary across Canada.

Since its inception in 1988, the NJI has continued to develop and deliver stimulating programs and a variety of digital resources that foster judicial excellence. These resources include Judicial Education Guides, Electronic Bench Books, educational modules to assist in program design, and an online judicial library. As part of its curriculum, the NJI offers over 70 judicial education programs each year. Alone or in partnership with courts and other organizations, the NJI is involved in the delivery of the majority of education taken by judges in Canada.

The NJI is looking to fill the permanent position of Junior Finance Officer based in Ottawa.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Junior Finance Officer is responsible for the performance of general accounting functions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Institute Financial Policy suite. The incumbent is responsible for fiscal management and provide budgetary and financial reporting support.
As a member of the Finance team, the Junior Finance Officer may be called upon to assist in other areas of general accounting and financial reporting as well.

**Specifically, the responsibilities of the position include**:
Accounts Payable
1. Review all non-program related invoices, ensure they are accurate, and that appropriate supporting documentation accompanies the invoice;
2. Code invoices to the respective ledger account, in preparation for posting;
3. Calculate eligible GST/HST rebates, as appropriate;
4. Enter data into database software and ensure the accuracy of the inputted data;
5. Prepare and process payment runs;
6. Review assigned general ledger accounts to determine necessary follow-up actions and make entries, as required;
7. Weekly entry of Moneris transactions;
8. Perform general accounting systems maintenance, both A/P, A/R and G/L modules;
9. Respect delegated spending authority according to financial delegation chart and policies; and
10. Maintain administrative and financial files relevant to the Finance department.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
1. Collage diploma in a relevant field, such as Accounting or Bookkeeping;
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting and data entry systems;
3. Fluent in English (R/W/O); and
4. Proficiency with Office 365.
Desirable
1. Experience in working in a non-profit organization;
2. Fluently bilingual in French and English (R/W/O);
3. Advanced proficiency using Sage 300c (AccPac);
4. Proficiency in SharePoint; and
5. Proficiency in Project Management Software, such as Asana.
