**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Manager of Accounting Operations manages operational activities of the accounting operation. This position is responsible for ensuring the implementation of standardized and sound accounting practices and ensuring accountability and effective management of the College’s financial resources.
The Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the College’s accounting processes, in collaboration with the Director of Finance. The Manager is also responsible for financial analysis and reporting that provides Management with accurate and relevant information for decision making and meets internal and external reporting requirements.
In addition, the incumbent has ownership of the budgeting software and management reporting including the analysis and recommendation of new systems/reports and upgrades. The incumbent provides support, guidance, training and solutions for reporting and budgeting systems.
The Manager is also responsible for the management of the College’s privacy policy and ensures operational procedures are in compliance with relevant privacy laws.
The Manager Accounting Operations will foster a productive and efficient work environment through mentorship and teamwork and take a lead role in developing and implementing innovative and practical approaches to departmental and corporate initiatives.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Managing daily accounting operations including the accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and the financial reporting sections of the finance department.
- Developing and implementing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
- Preparing for audits and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
- Analyzing financial data to provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Directs and deploys financial accounting team personnel and resources to best support budget managers in the process of budget & Midyear Projection preparation, analysis, and ongoing monitoring of their financial resources.
- Prepare, forecasts, and analyses to support short, medium and long-term resource planning & decision making.
- Analyze and asses the College’s financial performance in-year / ytd across a multitude of financial dimensions: actual results vs Budget / Projection, Capital spend vs capital plan, Cashflow vs cashflow projections. Report & present these findings regularly to senior stakeholders including CET.
- Responsible for the filing of reports in accordance with Ministry Binding Policy Directives: Annual Budget in GAAP/CFIS format; College Annual Report; Student Assistance Set Aside; Enrolment Target Agreement and others and act as the College contact for Ministry feedback and requests for further information
- Provides leadership and ensures the smooth and positive functioning of the finance department through identification, analysis and resolution of issues on a proactive basis, and also as they arise.
- Develop a comprehensive privacy program that defines, develops, maintains and implements policies and processes that enable consistent, effective privacy practices which minimize risk and ensure the confidentiality of personal information paper and/or electronic, across all media types. Ensures privacy forms, policies, standards, and procedures are up-to-date.
- Maintains a high level of performance of the accounting operations personnel through effective recruiting, selecting, developing, motivating, evaluating and training of staff.
