**Position Title**
- Associate Dean, Student Success**Position Summary**
- The Associate Dean, Student Success strengthens student success, engagement, and retention through their direct leadership of the institution’s Library, Makerspace, and Academic Support services. This position also provides the Dean, Student Success with indirect support to the areas of student support services (counselling) and Athletics.- The primary focus for the Associate Dean, Student Success relates to the strategic planning and the implementation of operational initiatives that ensures the efficiency and efficacy of Library and Academic Support services and the optimization of the institution’s Makerspace. This position provides the support, mentorship, and direct supervision to faculty and staff fostering a commitment to high-quality service and learning for students and community clients. As well, the Associate Dean, Student Success effectively engages stakeholders within the institution and the broader community to build partnerships and improve the access and quality of learning experiences for Red Deer Polytechnic students.**Position Responsibilities**

- A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Studies, or equivalent, from ALA (American Library Association) accredited institution
- 5 years or more of progressively responsible leadership experience, including direct supervision of employees (recruitment, selection, development, coaching, performance assessment)

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Experience working in a post-secondary institution is an asset
- Demonstrated success leading in a collaborative environment
- Demonstrated negotiation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrates effective communication skills with both written and verbal communication
- Proven ability to manage revenue generation/cost recovery budgets and achieve financial targets
- Demonstrated effectiveness in leadership and the management of change initiatives
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering the principles of learner-centeredness
- Strong expertise in at least one of the areas in the Academic Services portfolio: information services, instruction, reference, research support, scholarly communications, collection management, rare and special collections. Working knowledge of the other areas in the portfolio.
- Proven success in the development, implementation, and assessment of student services and innovative learning spaces
- Demonstrated analytical, research, critique, and problem solving & problem finding skills
- Demonstrated inclusive leadership style that inspires trust and confidence
- Proven ability to promote a positive environment through honesty, integrity, and ethical behavior consistent with the core values of Red Deer Polytechnic
- Demonstrated experience in creative outcomes and agile leadership
- Demonstrated ability to influence and integrate the service principles institutionally
