**Orton-Gillingham Tutor**

We are currently seeking trusted, compassionate individuals who are passionate about providing one-on-one reading support to children and teens with dyslexia.

Tutors will be trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach to reading instruction, an evidence based instructional approach that has been proven to significantly increase the reading and writing skills of students who struggle with reading and spelling due to dyslexia and other learning challenges.

As independent contractors, tutors will be free to set their own hours and be their own boss. Tutors typically work an average of 2-6 hours per week, and must be willing to take part in free, ongoing Orton-Gillingham training as they progress through the program with their students. Training will take place remotely.

**Requirements**:

- Background in teaching and/or working with children in a 1:1 setting
- Experience working with children with various learning challenges
- Excellent behaviour management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Liaison with parents
- Level 3 Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check
- Passion for helping students overcome educational barriers
- Access to a vehicle and willing to travel to clients' locations to provide in-person tutoring would be considered an asset

While we appreciate interest from all over the country for remote tutoring, priority will be given to those in the Ottawa area to make the logistics of meeting our clients' needs and sharing tutoring materials easier.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual
Part-time hours: 2-6 per week

**Salary**: From $27.00 per hour
