Portfolio Manager (Strategy)

Summary

Westerkirk Capital Inc. (‘WCI’), a private investment company based in Victoria, BC is seeking a Portfolio Manager. The organization is a single-family office investment enterprise managing assets via internal direct and third-party/external managers across a variety of portfolios and asset classes including fixed income, public equity, private equity, hedge funds, infrastructure, and real estate.

Opportunity

The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for providing investment advice for a portfolio of long-term-orientated investments. The successful incumbent will focus on developing investment recommendations and supporting the build-out of investment infrastructure for our expanding portfolios and platforms.

Accountabilities

**Lead the investment team in the following areas**:

- Develop and maintain a trusted business relationship with existing clients.
- Understand client and fund investment goals, preferences, and risk tolerances.
- Monitor and report on the economic, macro, and cross-asset investment environment.
- Develop internal and external research resources to support recommendations.
- Research and implement asset allocation models for recommendations.
- Management benchmarks and tactical position weightings.
- Conduct manager searches and quarterly updates for externally managed mandates.
- Evaluate alternative asset classes, derivatives, and hedging strategies.
- Create and deliver investment cases to the investment team and clients.
- Stay current and provide updates on investment industry trends.

**Qualifications**:

- Passion for investing in all asset classes.
- 5+ years in a similar role, advising senior management.
- Expertise in macroeconomic and market analysis.
- Expert-level user of Excel and Bloomberg, with some coding experience.
- Understanding of thematic investment trends and impact investing.
- Preference for CFA charterholder or equivalent education/experience.
- Able to travel 2-6 times per year

- Able to work independently to deliver high-quality analysis and reports.
- Able to cultivate partnerships and work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capable of using the utmost discretion when handling confidential and sensitive material.
- Commitment to high ethical standards as well as a positive, cooperative attitude.
