The** Payroll Specialist **will be primarily responsible for the administration of various aspects of the payroll process for hourly and salaried employees.
**Primary Duties & Responsibilities**:
- Prepare and process full cycle hourly and salary bi-weekly payrolls, including off-cycle bonus runs, payroll advances, and
- Assist with year-end processing including adjustments and T4 preparation
- Gather and provide required documentation for payroll audits
- Assist with answering the Payroll Help Line and providing excellent customer service and guidance to employees on payroll and benefit related issues
- Maintain HRIS and payroll systems, personnel files and filing systems, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all employee, HR and payroll data
- Prepare various summary reports in Excel for other departments in the company
- Assist with reviewing, updating, and developing processes and procedures for the payroll team
- Various other duties as required
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certificate with NPI preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience processing payroll
- Ceridian Dayforce experience an asset
- Experience with large volume payroll processing in a multi-province environment
- Extensive knowledge of federal and provincial tax and labour regulations
- Experience with US payroll processing an asset
- Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting
**Skills & Knowledge**:
- High degree analytical skills, high level communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective problem-solving skills, ability to organize and prioritize workload with flexibility
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Ability to deal with challenging customer service situations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in an MS Windows environment with above average Excel skills
- Possess a strong orientation to detail and a willingness to learn and take additional training as required
- Ability to work on weekends or general holidays when required
