**Job Description**:
Reporting to the Assistant Registrar, Academic Advising, the Academic Advisor engages in collaborative practices to enhance the development, progression and retention of Langara College students by providing high-quality academic guidance. The position supports students through their student journey at Langara College, advising on program options, addressing academic difficulties and referring them to resources both within the college and the community. The Academic Advisor is integral to the Academic Advising team and works collaboratively with colleagues in assisting students to successfully navigate through required programs and/or courses for academic success.
- Qualifications Required:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or in a relevant field required-
- Two (2) years of related experience providing one-on-one and group consultative support and advising to students, preferably in a post-secondary environment.-
- An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.-
- Experience accessing and using an integrated student information system.-
- Knowledge of BC post-secondary system, policy and procedures, programs and some limited registration processes.Skills & Abilities- Service first orientation to students, faculty, staff, and public-
- Excellent written, listening, and verbal communications skills-
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, able to prioritizeAble to manage multiple demands and meet deadlines-
- Skilled at investigating complex and/or difficult situations-
- Self-directed, collegial, team oriented and respectful-
- Flexible and agile when situation demands-

Salary Range:
$33.91 - $38.52 per hour

Pay Grade:
CUPE Paygrade 24
