:
Under direction and supervision, the Therapy Assistant will assist in preparation, facilitation, and supervision of Recreation Therapy based interventions and activities. Duties include group and individual program facilitation as well as monitoring and reporting on resident progress or status. Participation in various office duties will be assumed. Work assignments are performed with the expectation of initiative, originality, and adaptability.

QUALIFICATIONS:
(Education; Experience/Training; Knowledge; Licenses/Certificates; Membership Requirements)
- Recreation Diploma/Therapy Assistant Diploma or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Minimum of 1 year of working in a Health Care setting or with special populations
- Experience working in geriatric care required
- Experience in psychiatric or behavioral management an asset
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- First Aid/CPR
- Food Safe Training required

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Prepare for, lead, and modify group or individual interventions as required
- Encourage residents’ participation and cooperation in individual or group activities.
- Train residents in functional leisure skills and promote healthy leisure choices and lifestyle
- Porter and transport residents to and from program area(s).
- Assist residents with personal care and hygiene during programs as required
- Report findings related to residents’ status, programs, reports to Therapists and RT team
- Monitor and report resident performance/behaviors to Therapist
- Record resident participation and maintain charting as required by policy and procedure
- Know the antecedents of priority behaviors and manage the behaviors as per care plan

**Job Type**: Part-time

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Evening shift
