**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:
Reporting to the Project Manager and functionally reporting to Project Coordinator, the Environmental Technician is responsible for supporting the Erosion Risk Management group with project management activities for the implementation of projects to address erosion concerns. The Environmental Technician is an entry level position within the Project Management team. Customer service is a key component of this role to ensure stakeholder interactions are both pleasant and informative. This position plays an integral role in managing the water resources within TRCA’s jurisdiction for current and future generations by coordinating projects that protect critical infrastructure from the threats of erosion, slope instability, and other water based risks.

Major Responsibilities

**Field Inspections**:

- Attends site visits with consultants and internal staff and provides technical support in the completion of tree inventories, structural and vegetation condition monitoring, delineation of proposed work areas, and to document work completed by contractors or internal staff. During these tasks, the technician is generally responsible for accurately recording information, marking up maps and imagery, and other tasks as directed by senior staff to support project management activities
- Establishes photo stations and captures images to monitor changes on site prior to and during construction for use in presentations, website updates, and to keep a thorough record of activities as directed by the Project Manager or Project Coordinator

**Analysis and Reporting**:

- Prepares the first draft of various technical reports and documents under the direction of the Project Manager or Project Coordinator including, but not limited to: community outreach documents, construction health and safety plans, project plans, project schedules, request for proposals for consulting services, project chronologies, and environmental study reports for Environmental Assessments
- Develops tables and other graphical representations of information collected for inclusion in presentations or meetings with other staff
- Updates tables and other records that track the status of permits and approvals for project specific activities and the receipt of permission to enter agreements
- Provides written updates to senior staff regarding project status as directed by the Project Manager or Project Coordinator

**Data Collection and Records Management**:

- Compiles baseline information as directed from a variety of internal and external sources through information requests to assist with planning activities including: hydraulic data and modelling, endangered species screening requests, flora and fauna element occurrence information, ELC mapping, SEID, and previous technical studies
- Request services and information from other TRCA groups to support planning activities for engineering projects (e.g. Archaeology, Ecology, Property Services, Planning and Development, Environmental Monitoring, Resource Management etc.)
- Maintains organized and accurate records of project files, field notes, and inspection photographs and, under the direction of the Project Manager or Project Coordinator uploads pertinent files to Laserfiche for retention purposes.

**Customer Service and Stakeholder Management**:

- Prepares agendas, meeting material, and then records and drafts accurate, detailed meeting minutes at a variety of meetings with internal and external stakeholders. This includes Environmental Assessment mandated meetings that have strict requirements regarding records keeping. The Environmental Technician circulates minutes for review of errors and omissions to the supervisor before issuing to other participants and finalizes meeting minutes based on comments received
