The Faculty of Arts at the King’s University is seeking a sessional instructor in History for the following
course in the Winter Term of the 2024-25 academic year. The course meets for 3 hours per week.

**COURSE DESCRIPTION**
HIST 359 - Environmental History of the Americas

Tues., Thurs., 11:00 - 12:30
This course introduces students to the field of environmental history with general attention to the
Americas. We will look at Indigenous views and uses of land and nature prior to colonialism, the impact
of European settlers on nature and landscapes after 1492, and the contemporary manifestations of the
environmental movement and the climate crisis. The course will explore these themes through specific
historical case studies.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- MA or PhD in History or related field
- Post-secondary teaching experience as either a primary instructor or teaching assistant
- Assent to the University’s Christian Statement of Faith
