Pipe Logistics and Warehousing Manager

The Manager, Pipe Logistics and Warehousing is accountable for logístical operations pertaining to product and equipment shipments for pipe manufacturing site(s). She/he owns carrier relationships and actively manages carrier performance, serving as primary point of contact for the business. The position ensures that transportation modes, frequency of transports and routing are as efficient, safe and as cost effective as possible. He/she is accountable for corresponding freight decisions (and related optimization) as well as traffic team performance.

The Manager, Pipe Logistics and Warehousing regularly liaises with supply chain team, commercial team, Composite System distribution depot leads and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on shipping plan and related support activities. Serves as escalation point for shipping changes (pushes, delays, etc.) and/or other execution priorities. Escalates out of control conditions and implements recovery plans with urgency to enhance outcomes.

The position is also accountable for day-to-day warehousing operations at pipe manufacturing site(s), including receiving activities, related material handling and storage (ie. equipment, production consumables, raw materials, etc.) and daily warehouse shipments (FEDEX, etc.) as required.

**DUTIES**:
**Logistics and Warehousing Leadership and Execution**
- Accountable for logístical operations pertaining to product and equipment shipments for pipe manufacturing site(s). Monitors OTD metrics, shipment misses and drives resolution through corrective actions. She/he owns carrier relationships, serving as primary point of contact for the business. Manages carrier performance and related escalations, leveraging consultants as required. Identifies, evaluates and onboards new carriers to meet business objectives. Terminates underperforming carrier partnerships.
- Ensures that transportation modes, frequency of transports and routing are as efficient, safe and as cost effective as possible. Accountable for corresponding freight decisions and related optimization. Actively manage expenses, including duty, fuel surcharge, tariff, brokerage and/other expenses. Monitors internal reporting and optimizes carrier spend to minimize logístical costs. Supports International and US depot shipping projects as assigned. Manages performance of traffic coordinators and traffic supervisor.
- Regularly liaises with supply chain team, commercial team and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on shipping plan. Serves as escalation point for shipping changes (pushes, delays, etc.) and/or other execution priorities. Escalates out of control conditions and implements recovery plans with urgency to enhance outcomes. Systematically reports results to senior leadership.
- Accountable for day-to-day warehousing operations including receiving activities, related material handling and storage (ie. raw materials, consumables and other manufacturing inputs) and daily warehouse shipments (FEDEX, etc.) as required. Maintains safe, neat and orderly warehousing operations to support production. Manages warehousing team performance.
- Accountable for insurance claim follow through and resolution due to carrier incidents. (i.e.: Bridge strikes etc...)

**Continuous Improvement (CI) Planning and Execution**
- Promotes continuous improvement mindset, adoption of best practices and drives intelligent standardization. Actively challenges current state cost structure, processes, procedures, system configuration/functionality, and reporting across warehousing, shipping/receiving and logistics functions. Surfaces team pain points and advocates for system/process changes to remedy. Explores economically practical options to reduce the company’s environmental impact associated with activities in scope. Formulates continuous improvement proposals for leadership consideration. Responsible for prioritizing proposals based on business impact.
- Works closely with Supply Chain Systems Manager to drive change. Leads change management for warehousing, shipping/receiving and logistics functions for system/process changes (including ERP changes). Leads strategic CI projects as assigned.

**Governance and Compliance Leadership**
- Accountable for managing detailed performance scorecards. Ensures key performance indicators (KPIs) are actively managed, with deviations from target and unfavorable trends escalated with correct urgency. Work with appropriate stakeholders to drive compliance with HSSE, labor, insurance, transportation, and other regulatory requirements within scope. Immediately address or escalate deficiencies.
- Ensures compliance with import/export regulations and all provincial/state/federal laws and regulations pertaining to logístical operations, regularly conducting compliance audits across carrier network.
