**Structure of** **the Position**:

- Reports to the Manager and works in cooperation with other staff
- Is accountable to WERC’s Board of Directors through the Manager
- Always represents WERC professionally and maintains client confidentiality
- Demonstrates empathy and compassion to all women who use WERC services
- WERC advocates for and provides equal and inclusive access to women of diverse backgrounds and life circumstances

**BASIC PURPOSE**:
The Employment Consultant will be responsible for working with WERC staff and clients to:
a) Work with clients one-on-one to develop action plans that align with their employment goals.

b) To guide and support clients through their service plans to assist them in connecting training and programs within Oxford County to help achieve their employment goals.

c) Maintain ongoing communication and collaboration with the Oxford County (OW) and Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) Case Managers for best wrap around supports.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Completing Intake meeting with client’s
- Effective respectable communication and interviewing techniques to develop trust and encourage action plan development and follow through.
- Supporting employment barriers and career counselling as required - monitor and support clients as they work through identified issues.
- Advocate on behalf of clients with community partners to ensure the best support services is accessible and fits the needs of the client.
- Frequent meetings with individual client’s in office, to ensure needs and action plan, and to support wrap around supports to community agencies where it makes sense for client needs
- Creating Cover Letter and Resume’s for clients that are targeted to their skills and training for job searching
- Monitor and evaluate client’s employment action plan and employment activities in collaboration with WERC Team to ensure best supports are being provided.
- Use of Electronic scheduling and note taking software (understanding of Windows, Microsoft 365 programs, CaMs, CATS, ESCases)
- Workshop Facilitation in workshop series - supporting clients to help increase their confidence and employability skills

**ADMINISTRATIVE**:

- Ensure that all Case Management are kept up-to-date, accurate and kept confidential
- Complete case management with follow up calls to determine and record client status; when appropriate, close files or encourage re-engagement in services
- Conduct follow up calls after file closure to capture statistical information for EO
- Updating and creating facilitation material to keep information current and relevant to todays labour market and economic climate

**TEAM SUPPORT & PUBLIC RELATIONS**:
Cover front desk when required handling both walk-ins and telephone communications; provide an overview of WERC Services, respond to specific inquiries, and book intake/ongoing appointments as required.
- Consistently represent the WERC in a positive and professional manner when interacting with members of the public within the Centre and at community events.
- Assist staff members in other program areas as required, i.e. workshop coverage or supervision when external speakers are in attendance.

**To be Successful in the Role you will have**:

- Post-secondary degree/diploma or equivalent in social services, employment counselling, career counselling, women studies or related discipline
- Previous experience working in the social services field with diverse populations.
- Experience providing coaching for individuals seeking employment including youth, women with disabilities, women in receipt of OW, newcomers and women with multiple barriers.
- Experience within Oxford County programs and resources is an asset.
- Must possess a results-orientated attitude towards achieving targets and associated outcomes.
- Strong ability to time manage and prioritize tasks efficiently
- Excellent Written and Verbal/Non-Verbal Communication Skills
- Understanding of the barriers to women’s employment including (but not limited to):

- H_ow trauma affects employability_
- _Disabilities, Mental Health and Addictions_
- _Cross cultural sensitivities_
- _Poverty (housing and food instability)_
- _Childcare_
- _Transportation_

Must understand how Non for-Profit businesses operate, including funding model, profitability, targets, client concerns
- Champion a positive and satisfying work environment by supporting WERC’s core values and culture.

- **1 - FT Position - 32 Hours weekly **_
- **1 - PT Position - 19.5 Hours per week (3 days per week / workdays could be flexible)**_
