**Fire Protection Technician**
A typical day as a Rich-Tek Fire Protection Technician involves travelling between job sites in the Lower Mainland of BC to carry out a variety of tests and repairs as well as servicing and maintenance work on fire protection equipment. Rich-Tek Fire Protection Technicians specialize in the servicing and repair of various types of fire pumps and related equipment.

Experience in the fire protection industry is required.
**Responsibilities**:
- Be familiar with NFPA standards and practice them in your daily activities.
- Perform weekly, monthly and annual testing
- Inspect, test, maintain, and repair existing systems.
- Investigate, troubleshoot and provide solutions for equipment-related issues.
- Provide efficient and cost-effective solutions and recommendations to customers.
- Complete inspection reports and other documentation according to Rich-Tek guidelines and promptly submit them to the office for processing.
- Properly and safely handle, use and care for various testing equipment, tools, and materials.
- Respond to after-hours and weekend trouble calls while on-call.
- Effectively communicate test/inspection results and recommendations to customers.
- Communicate and cooperate with the service coordinator to facilitate scheduling jobs.
Absolute requirements:
- At least 3-5 years of experience in the fire protection industry
- High School Diploma
- Valid BC driver’s license (class 7 or better)
- Clean driver’s abstract
- Verbal and written fluency in the English language
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Desired Skills & Background:
- Fast learner
- Mechanically inclined
- Previous experience in one of the following, or other similar fields:
- Fire protection
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- Millwright
- RFPT endorsement is an asset
Hours of work:
- Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
- Overtime (optional but encouraged)
- Early morning
- Evening work
- Weekends
Additional Notes:
1. The exact rate of pay will depend on experience. Rich-Tek offers opportunities to advance and earn more as you progress and become more experienced, eventually earning your ASTTBC RFPT certification (if not already certified).
2. Rich-Tek Fire Protection Technicians are frequently asked to travel outside of the local service area to various locations in the Interior and Northern BC, the Yukon, Alberta, and more. Out-of-town travel is entirely company-paid.
3. After-hours trouble calls are assigned based on the on-call rotation. This means you will occasionally be designated as on-call through a weekly rotation with other technicians, in which you will be required to take trouble calls as necessary. In exchange for making yourself available, bonus pay is offered.
4. After you have passed the 3-month probationary period, you will be supplied with a company cell phone and laptop, as well as a company vehicle (dependent on availability).
