**JOB OVERVIEW**
As the Recreational Camp Attendant-Lead, you will be the heart of Unified We Grow’s vibrant 8-week summer day camp for children ages 6-12. You will be responsible for leading the daily programming, ensuring safety and inclusivity, and supporting a team of camp counselors and volunteers. This is an ideal opportunity for someone passionate about child development, culturally responsive programming, and community-based education. You will work alongside Unified We Grow’s Program Team to implement a fun, engaging, and educational summer schedule filled with arts, nature, play, swimming, outings, and community celebrations.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Program Leadership & Facilitation**
- Lead daily routines including opening/closing circles, transitions, and core activities (e.g., arts and crafts, games, water play, farm visits, weekly field trips).

**Child Supervision & Safety**
- Supervise up to 20 children daily, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and emotionally supportive environment.
- Administer basic first aid and manage behavioral or conflict situations as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of activity areas and equipment.

**Staff and Volunteer Support**
- Provide guidance and support to junior counselors, youth volunteers, and placement students.
- Foster a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive team culture.
- Lead team reflection activities such as end-of-day journaling and debriefs.

**Family & Community Engagement**
- Communicate daily with parents/guardians during drop-off and pick-up about children’s participation and progress.
- Support children’s involvement in community events such as the Children’s Festival and Annual General Meeting (AGM).

**Logistics & Administration**
- Maintain accurate attendance records and incident reports.
- Assist in preparing materials and managing supplies for daily programming.
- Plan and implement engaging, themed educational activities that promote learning, development, and fun (e.g., cultural food days, outdoor exploration, talent shows, community festival).
- Ensure smooth transitions and consistent adherence to daily schedules.

**REQUIREMENTS**
- Canada Summer Jobs requirements
- Experience working with children in a recreational or educational setting is preferred.
- Strong leadership, conflict resolution, and team-building skills.
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willing to obtain by start date).
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening (required upon hiring).
- Ability to supervise outdoor, high-energy environments and swimming trips.
- Ability to swim in order to monitor and participate program participants (non-negotiable)
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and motivate children.
- Ability to create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed.

Pay: $17.20 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

Licence/Certification:

- CPR Certification (required)
