Drop-in Team Lead

Under the direction of the Director of Programs & Services and the Drop-In Coordinator, the Drop-In Team Lead Worker will be responsible for promoting a safe, supportive, and welcoming center for service users.
- Provide a welcoming environment for drop in users, ensuring that they have prompt access to all related programs and services including crisis management in a friendly and professional manner.
- Monitor and de-escalate possible crisis situation.
- Report the effectiveness of programs and services; suggest new services or programs to meet needs not currently being addressed; Identify and address service gaps for individuals accessing Drop-In programming
- Work with Drop-In Coordinator in evaluating on-going activities at the Center and in introducing new activities that will benefit clients.
- Implement record-keeping procedures to monitor attendance, donations, and professional visitation and contribute to statistical summaries and reports.
- Ensure the facility and surroundings are properly maintained, organized, and in working order and arrange for services as needed.
- Liaise with food suppliers for grocery and food delivery.
- Order cleaning, hygiene, and harm reduction supplies, first aid boxes, office supplies, etc.
- Participate in volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management.
- Oversee direct service to client including information and referral, crisis management, life skills instruction, advocacy, and accompaniment and document according to agency practices
- Promote Margaret’s Toronto East Drop-In Center in the community, develop partnerships, and liaising with other community agencies and stakeholders as necessary.
- Work collaboratively with the Drop-In Coordinator and assist with overall coordination of Drop-In Services
- Participate in Coordinator Meetings and regular Drop-In meetings
- Engage in fundraising activities and resource acquisitions
- Perform other duties as required/assigned.
**Qualifications**
- Social Work Degree or equivalent
- 3-5 years experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health & addiction issues
- 2 or more years experience in a supervisory position
- Exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of client - centered services, recovery model and anti racism and anti oppression practices or procedures
