Faculty, Occupational Health and Safety

BCIT’s **Occupational Health and Safety Department**within the School of Health Sciences is seeking a **permanent, full-time (1.0**FTE**) Faculty, Occupational Health and Safety** to provide educational leadership, develop competency-based educational modules, and facilitate learning and learner evaluations.

**Duties & Responsibilities**

**DUTIES**AND

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Develop, deliver, and assess Occupational Health and Safety theory and laboratory curriculum
- Design and update course materials, including outlines, and learning guides, for in-person and online delivery.
- Ensure curriculum aligns with current OHS regulations, professional competencies, and industry best practices.
- Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback and mentorship.
- Maintain currency in professional standards and educational practices.
- Manage OCHS laboratory supplies and support applied learning activities.
- Collaborate with faculty and the Program Head on program planning and improvement.
- Engage with professional associations and industry partners to enhance program relevance

**Qualifications**

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Master’s Degree preferred. Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Current CRSP or other relevant Occupational Health and Safety Designation (such as ROH, CSP, or CIH)
- Evidence of professional development in Occupational Health and Safety
- Membership in relevant professional associations (e.g., AIHA, HSPC, BCRSP) is an asset.

**EXPERIENCE**:

- Minimum five years recent technical experience in Occupational Health and Safety
- Demonstrates comfort in using LMS platforms and AI-assisted learning tools to support active and applied learning.
- Familiarity with safety management systems (Z45001 OHSMS or a comparable systems approach)

**KEY**COMPETENCIES**:

- Strong knowledge and technical ability in Occupational Health and Safety procedures, policies, and multiple practice areas.
- Effectively communicates and teaches both fundamental and complex OHS concepts to adult learners using appropriate technologies, with the ability to support multi-modal teaching to meet diverse learning needs.
- Demonstrates initiative, reliability, effective time management, and problem-solving skills while working independently and meeting deadlines.
- Works respectfully and collaboratively with students, colleagues, and staff, serving as a supportive and approachable resource.
- Flexible and adaptable, with a strong desire for continuous learning and improvement in dynamic classroom and laboratory settings.

**Salary Range**
- Salary Range: $65,045 - $113,545 per annum.

**Additional Salary Information**
- Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
