Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the Accounting Assistant will work directly with the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Specialists in a variety of support roles including (but not limited to): coding and processing of invoices and vendor payments, reconciling and processing credit card and employee expense reports, data entry for property management database, bank deposits, downloading online invoices, filing and general data entry.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

Working with the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Specialists, the Accounting Assistant will:

- Code and enter invoices accurately into the accounting software (KwikTag and MS Dynamics GP)
- Process weekly bank deposits
- Reconcile monthly credit card statements for approximately 17 corporate credit cards
- Enter pharmacy and dental daily sales into the accounting software
- Enter all pharmacy bank transactions
- Reconcile and record employee expense report disbursements
- Enter and import pharmacy expenses into the accounting software
- Process adjustments in the property management system under the direction of Property Services
- Process weekly donation credit card payments
- Ensure appropriate documentation and approvals have been received for expenses
- Access online vendor accounts for statements and invoices
- Reconcile vendor statements
- Act as the backup for vacation coverage and other absences for the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Specialists
- Adhere to proper cash handling controls and processes
- File processed accounts payables on a weekly basis
- Compile supporting documents for funder reporting and interim and year end audits
- Other duties as required

**SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS**

***Education**
- Completion of Grade 12 and post-secondary accounting/bookkeeping courses or relevant administration courses.

**Experience**
- At least two years directly related accounting/bookkeeping experience including large volumes of accounts payables or receivables (+ 200 invoices per week), cash-handling, and working in a multi department organization.
- Experience in a not-for-profit organization would be considered an asset.

***Requirements**
- Complete the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Record Check.

**Job Information**
- **Hourly Wage Rate**:$23.59.
- **Work Location**:203 - 821 Burdett Ave.
- ** Work Days**:Monday to Friday.
- **Shift Times**: 8:30am to 4:30pm.
- **Weekly Hours**:40 hours per week.
- ** Union**:Exempt.
