**The opportunity**:
The primary responsibilities of this position are to manage the business functions and day‐to‐day operations related to the recruitment and retention of specialist physicians to serve in Northern rural and remote communities where Ongomiizwin Health Services provides healthcare services.
The incumbent of this position is responsible for liaising with Department Heads and Ongomiizwin Leadership in the recruitment of high quality specialists with the intention of expanding the specialist program into communities who have demonstrated a need for services. This expansion of services will provide patients the ability to access specialist services in their home communities reducing their need to travel to Winnipeg to receive said services.
The incumbent of this position works within budget restrictions to meet the needs determined for each community.
The Consultant/Specialist Program Coordinator collects, updates, and analyzes data and statistical reports relevant to the activities and needs of the community and surrounding areas. This function requires advanced knowledge and extensive experience in MS Office programs as well as formal training in statistical report theory and practice to facilitate the analysis of reports and data while determining the areas of Program expansion. A detailed understanding of Northern healthcare and the negative impact on community due to lack of services will facilitate this process.
The Consultant/Specialist Program Coordinator is responsible for the supervision of the activities, work assignments, promotion, training, and performance management of one medical transcriptionist position with Ongomiizwin Health Services.
**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:
- Undergraduate degree in a related discipline plus five years of directly related experience in healthcare recruitment and administration. An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Formal training in statistical report theory and practice is required.
- A thorough understanding of the Northern healthcare system and Northern health practices is required. A good knowledge of University regulations, programs, policies and procedures is essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationship is required.
- Minimum 5 years of directly related experience in the physician recruitment is required.
- Knowledge of the Northern, Inuit, and Indigenous culture is required.
- Advanced experience in MS Office programs is required, in particular Access, Adobe, Excel and Word.
- Experience providing advice and guidance to Leadership is essential.
- Experience supervising staff is required
- Medical terminology and transcription training are considered assets.
**Why the University of Manitoba?**
Along with being one of Manitoba’s top employers, we are proud to provide a collaborative and enriching work environment. In addition to a strong compensation package with a competitive salary, the University provides an exceptional workplace that includes:
- Comprehensive group benefits and pension plan.
- Competitive vacation time.
- Employee and Family Assistance Program.
- A full spectrum of professional development opportunities.
**Closing Date: November 29, 2024**
The University of Manitoba is committed to the principles of equity, diversity & inclusion and to promoting opportunities in hiring, promotion and tenure (where applicable) for systemically marginalized groups who have been excluded from full participation at the University and the larger community including Indigenous Peoples, women, racialized persons, persons with disabilities and those who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+ (Two Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, questioning, intersex, asexual and other diverse sexual identities).
