THE ROLE: The main responsibility of the Building Materials Purchaser is to support Contractor Services Yards, Manufacturing Plants, and Custom Homes divisions with small-volume procurement of Panel, Lumber, and Engineered Wood Products procurement.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Maintain relationships with current vendors while developing relationships with new mills and material providers.
- Forecast procurement needs, this will include using monthly usage historical and forecasted sales.
- Account Manager for outside Vendors
- Establish and Maintain Company Price Lists (manage vendors to ensure the best combination of quality, price, and suitability of purchased items is upheld to meet the organizations operational requirements)
- Liaison with Procurement Manager on pricing trends on procurement items
- Communicate with receiving personnel to ensure product is meeting the quality standards of its intended use.
- Conducts meetings with vendors, obtains quotations, negotiates prices and delivery dates.
- Places orders and selects proper sources of supplies, commodities, and materials to ensure most economical deliveries, etc.
- Contacts suppliers regarding adjustments, incorrect materials, deliveries, etc.
- Locates new sources of supplies as necessary and keeps abreast of market and material conditions.
- Determines the adequate stocking levels for sales and distributes appropriate levels to locations. Decides level at which product must be reordered.
- Maintains Open Purchase order reporting and reviews discrepancies and delays with Operations and Logistics teams
- Updates supplier price lists
- Manages moldings and door purchasing
- Handles minor logistics coordination for inter-divisional
- Performs other duties as assigned by Management.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Proven experience purchasing building materials. Preference for lumber, treated products, EWP, or panels.
- Working knowledge of lumber and grade rules.
- Bachelor’s degree, Procurement Designation, or combination of experience will be considered.
- Demonstrate proficiency to manage multiple tasks, to set priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong organizational skills detail orientated and follows up on commitments
- Excellent negotiating and relationship skills
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic
- Works well with little supervision.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook and other business software
- Experience working with Epicor BisTrack would be an asset.

**Salary**: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year

**Education**:

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
