**General Description**:
Reporting to the Director of Care, the Assistant Director of Care (ADOC) assists in supervising and directing nursing and personal care staff as they deliver services to the residents at SJF
**Responsibilities**:
- Assist the Director of Care (DOC) in identifying staff education needs and providing or arranging training programs to address those needs
- Assisting with responding to and following up on complaints or concerns
- Review resident records and reports and make rounds on a regular basis
- Ensures departmental records, reports and statistics are maintained in accordance with legislative requirements and facility practices
- Program lead for mandatory programs inclusive of skin and wound, continence care, pain and palliative care, and BSO
- Provides coverage as required in the event of RN absences
- Assists the DOC in policy development and implementation of best practices
- Liaises and consults with inspectors and professionals, in conjunction with the DOC, in relation to the needs/care of residents
- Provides follow up and investigation of critical incidents
- Assumes responsibility for the nursing department in the absence of the DOC
- Assists with the completion of audits for IPAC compliance
- Participates in the Quality and Risk committee
**Qualifications**:
- Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Education at a baccalaureate level at the minimum
- Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices in long term care
- Minimum of two years managerial experience in a long-term care facility
- Demonstrated ability to handle a variety of interactions with staff, families and residents
