Associate Director, Athletics

Reporting to the Director, Student Life, the Associate Director, Athletics & Recreation ("AD") oversees athletic complexes at the Trafalgar and Davis Campuses, and a fitness facility at Hazel McCallion Campus, to meet the needs of the Sheridan community and the communities of Halton/Peel. The AD provides leadership in the planning, budgeting and delivery of quality athletic and recreational activities and is responsible for the proactive and strategic development of programs to meet the needs of a diverse student population. In collaboration with the Director, Student Life, this role supports the development of community partnerships relating to athletics and recreation and coordinates/collaborates with programming within the Student Affairs department. This role supervises staff with responsibility for athletic facilities and recreational and varsity program delivery. The AD also supports initiatives to recruit and retain varsity student athletes, promote their academic success and participate in sectoral organizations relating to athletics and recreation at the direction of Student Affairs administration. **What You’ll Be Doing** - Providing leadership in the implementation of policies and procedures. Providing leadership and motivation in developing plans to enhance spirit and connectedness through athletic and recreational activities. - Liaising with Academic and Administrative areas to ensure the integration of programs and activities. On an ongoing basis, conducting research into the trends in college-level athletic and recreational activities. Advising on policy relevant to varsity sport at the College. - Providing direct leadership and supervision to the Athletics and Recreation staff, including identification of staffing requirements, recruiting, training, mentoring/coaching, succession planning, retention, performance management and evaluation. Assigning workload and examining and redefining roles/responsibilities, as necessary, to ensure effective and efficient use of resources. - Working with Director and Student Affairs Admin to develop integrated revenue generating initiatives and sponsorships with internal and external partners. Supporting the development of business partnerships in the Community, fee for service/usage programs/activities. - In collaboration with Advancement, Student Affairs administration, supports the growth and administration of builds a scholarship fund for varsity student athletes. - Supporting tutoring, advising and other academic success programs for varsity athletes. Taking responsibility for retention and success of varsity athletes. Recruiting athletes for the college's varsity teams. Participating in the development and implementation of strategic directions for the Division. Participating in appropriate college-wide initiatives/committees. Representing the College at Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA), Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and other athletic organizations. **About You** You have a commitment to advancing **equity, diversity**and** inclusivity**, recognize and value the diverse and intersectional identities of our community and promote a sense of belonging. (equivalency to be considered). - Must have an understanding of OCAA, CCAA level sports and college level recreational activities. - Must have experience with advertising and marketing.
