Director Strategic Priorities

As the **Director, Strategic Priorities**, you will be responsible for leading the development, execution and measurement of CPSA’s strategic initiatives. Collaborating with the Senior Leadership Team, you will define long-term objectives, identify key opportunities for improvement, and ensure alignment between CPSA’s strategic goals and day-to-day operations. You will play a key role in facilitating the strategic planning process, conducting analysis to inform decision-making, and in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team, drive the successful implementation of strategic projects and initiatives across CPSA. You will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and the Deputy Registrar (DR) to ensure alignment of operations, regulatory processes, and execution of the strategy, and will partner with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in the business planning process to ensure the strategic priorities are being captured.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- **Strategic Planning and Execution**:
- Assist the CEO/Registrar and Council with the end-to-end process of developing CPSA’s long-term strategic plan, collaborating with senior leadership to define business objectives, priorities, and opportunities.
- Lead the strategic programs specific to the Indigenous Advisory Circle and Anti-Racist, Anti-Discriminatory Advisory Committee (ARADAC) on behalf of CPSA.
- Lead the operational translation of the strategic plan into actionable items in the business plan including the facilitation of regular strategic planning sessions and workshops with relevant external partner to review progress, adjust tactics and incorporate plan feedback.
- **Strategic Analysis and Market Intelligence**:
- Monitor the health care sector and municipal, provincial and federal government landscapes to inform strategic decision-making.
- Analyze internal performance data to identify operational strengths and weaknesses, ensuring that strategies are data-driven and based on actionable insights.
- Leverage forecasting tools and techniques to predict future health care sector shifts and anticipate challenges and/or opportunities for CPSA.
- **Cross-Functional Collaboration and Alignment**:
- Work collaboratively with senior leaders to identify and remove barriers to meet departmental objectives.
- Support the DR & COO in ensuring capabilities are aligned with the organization's legislative mandate and strategic initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative environment where different business functions contribute to and support the development and execution of the strategic plan.
- Ensure clear communication channels are established across teams to align goals, deliverables, and timelines, creating a cohesive, CPSA-wide strategy.
- **Performance Metrics and Monitoring**:
- Develop and maintain a robust system for tracking the progress of strategic initiatives, establishing clear metrics and KPIs for goals.
- Regularly report on the status of strategic projects to senior leadership, providing insights on successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
- Conduct periodic reviews of key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the organization stays on track and pivots as necessary to address emerging issues or trends.
- Assess the impact of implemented strategies, using both qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate their effectiveness in achieving long-term goals.
- In partnership with the Analytics, Innovation, and Research (AIR) team, drive continuous improvement and innovation by staying informed on healthcare sector trends, emerging technologies, and governmental shifts to ensure strategic plans are forward-thinking and adaptable.
- In partnership with the CFO, help ensure the strategic priorities are captured in the business plan and budget.
- **Leadership Support and Advisory**:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team, providing strategic insights and recommendations on key business decisions.
- Support senior leaders navigating complex strategic challenges, offering solutions and actionable advice to address both short-term and long-term business needs.
- Assist in refining and adjusting the overall business strategy based on internal and external factors.
- Lead high-priority strategic initiatives, ensuring they are executed on time, within budget, and according to CPSA’s goals.
- In partnership with Communications, create and maintain strategic communication materials, such as presentations, reports, and updates, to ensure transparency and alignment to both internal and external partners.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education**:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Certificate or relevant professional development in leadership, strategy, performance measurement or project management
**Experience**:
- 5-8 years of strategic planning or business analyst role, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a leadership capacity.
