**YMCA Afterschool Recreation Program**

**Nature and Scope**

To Provide high quality programs and services to children and families in accordance with the Mission and Values of the Humber Community YMCA.

**Responsibilities**
- To interact directly with the children and act as professional role models for children, volunteers, students and fellow staff
- To plan and implement a consistent child focused program in accordance with YMCA policy and Procedures
- To communicate effectively with children, parents, school representatives and staff
- To incorporate physical fitness and healthy living activities into the daily program schedule
- To meet the physical demands of YMCA Child Care programs; specifically to walk 5 kilometers at a moderate pace and lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- To observe and record daily activities
- To maintain a neat, orderly and clean environment, including all activity areas. Kitchen and washrooms.
- To ensure that all safety and supervision standards are implemented and maintained according to YMCA requirements.
- To release children only to those authorized by parent or guardian, to ask for identification in order to ensure that the authorized pick-up has been verified.
- To maintain confidentiality of all information related to the center, the children, their families and staff.
- To maintain regular attendance, punctuality, attend scheduled monthly staff meetings and to be appropriately dressed and well groomed.
- To work together as an integral part of a team, providing support and encouragement to each other.
- To complete any other duties as directed by your supervisor and the Director of Child Care

**Qualifications**
- Minimum High School Diploma
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification - an asset but not required
- Criminal Reference Checkand Vulnerable Sector Check (new upon hire)
- Experience working with Children

In addition to the above competencies the YMCA Core Competencies are required, Commitment to Organization Vision and Values, Integrity, Service Orientation, Team work.

**Salary**: $15.50-$17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 22 per week
