**As Loss Control Inspector YOU Will Be Responsible For**:

- Organizing and carrying out inspections to evaluate properties and report on-site observations for insurance underwriting purposes. Identifying and analyzing hazards and critical issues, measuring buildings, and taking photographs, as well as inspecting features, such as fire prevention systems, heating equipment, and fuel storage tanks.
- Converses with policyholders and brokers to understand the history of the property, any risks, and answer any questions they might have.
- Develops risk improvement recommendations based on identified risk exposures.
- Identifies trends and key issues based on field work performed and recommends solutions to management in order achieve positive results.
- Prepares detailed reports that include identifying the fundamental construction and equipment details, risk assessment, and replacement cost value verification.
- Works with our underwriting team by performing risk-level rating recommendations
- Designs, develops and implements risk management, loss prevention and loss control informational training based on data and best practices for employees.
- Represents the Company by executing a high level of service and always maintaining professionalism.

**What We Need From YOU**
- Completion of Grade 12 education.
- A CIP designation with the Insurance Institute of Canada or the completion of at least five Insurance Institute courses along with a positive commitment toward the completion of the CIP designation within three years from the date of placement in the job.
- Minimum three (3) years experience performing on-site insurance inspections and completing insurance loss control surveys and reports.
- Expert knowledge in understanding underwriting principles of risk control, hazard identification and risk mitigation processes.
- Excellent knowledge of applicable building & fire protection codes, construction for farm and commercial operations, plumbing, heating, electrical and fire safety.
- Strong self-initiative, prioritization, time management, and critical thinking skills.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to regularly travel including overnight stays are required.
- Strong interpersonal skills, good written and oral communication skills, and interviewing skills are vital.
