**Layout Technician (Construction)**

The position of Layout Tech is to provide support to the Concrete Division and Project Teams within Maple for the successful planning and execution of construction projects. As a Layout Tech, you will be using equipment and software to accurately implement surveying tools and equipment to help the Concrete Division and Project Teams with site and layout work.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Maintain high level of competency of surveying equipment and software through continued use and training.
- Troubleshoot software issues as required.
- Proficient understanding of the evolution of surveying technologies and their potential use within MRCL
- Comply with Company quality systems and procedures.
- Ensure that best practices are always used.
- Represent the company to the client, consultants and subcontractors in a professional and ethical manner and maintain the company image and reputation.
- Proficient understanding of Surveying processes and methodologies
- Able to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
- Troubleshoot problems as needed in support of Surveying processes.
- Lead by example around the site and in the office
- Conduct continuing education on surveying processes and its new technologies.
- Maintain high level of competency of software through continued use and training.
- Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops for Surveying, bringing back learning and disseminating the information to appropriate teams.
- Stay informed on best practices for use of the software and technologies.
- Liaise with Concrete Division and Project Teams to coordinate field layout work.
- To provide accurate and timely data to the Concrete Division and Project Teams
- Check and maintain the calibration of survey equipment.
- Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed.
- Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
- Record the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features.
- Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain.
- Prepare all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys.
- Coordinate findings with the work of engineering and architectural personnel, clients, and others concerned with projects.
- Adjust surveying equipment to maintain accuracy.
- Establish fixed points for use throughout a construction project.
- Travel will be required.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Technical diploma in an appropriate field
- Two or more years of layout/surveying experience
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, read blueprints, schematics, field drawings and plans.
- Understanding of all construction trades and construction techniques
- Technical understanding of Surveying equipment and related software
- Knowledge of Trimble FieldLink and/or Trimble Access
- Knowledge of local, provincial, and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances, and legislation
- A general understanding of land development survey
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Bluebeam
