**Position Description**:
This Child and Youth Counsellor position is part of a national multi-site randomized controlled trial that will examine the effectiveness of an outpatient suicide prevention intervention for high-risk adolescents.
The Child and Youth Counsellor’s primary responsibility will be to work on a research study and administer the study intervention using a structured workbook that contains sections for children and their families to complete. They will also be responsible for liaising with treatment providers and contributing to study data collection and data entry.
**_Here's What You'll Get To Do:_**
- Providing a manualized psychotherapeutic treatment for patients and families
- Administering standardized data collection forms to families
- Entering data into REDCap
- Participating in team meetings as appropriate
- Liaising with treatment providers and team members regarding patients’ clinical progress and ongoing treatment planning
- Documenting therapy progress in the patient's clinical chart
**_ Here's What You'll Need:_**
- Child and Youth Worker Diploma
- Registration with the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care
- Minimum of two years' experience working in children's mental health post-graduation.
- Experience working with adolescents with depression and anxiety, and their families
- Well-developed therapeutic skills as well as skills in crisis management, family therapy and other mental health interventions
- Training and experience with CBT and/or DBT in children and adolescents preferred
- Appreciation of the role of research in adolescent mental health, including the use of audio recording.
- Interest in learning new skills and participating in research, if appropriate
- Ability to collaborate effectively as a member of the health care team and to take initiative and leadership when appropriate
- Ability to adhere to a structured intervention
- An awareness of when and how to use supervision
**Employment Type**:Part-time, Temporary Employment (1 year contract at 0.5 FTE)
