**The Purchasing Manager** **provides leadership and support for MML in matters relating to Purchasing and ISO and reports directly to the SVP Finance.**

**What you'll be doing**
- Negotiates contract terms and conditions with vendors.
- Compares and negotiates prices with the objective of securing the lowest cost to meet and exceed project budgets.
- Prepare annual RFQ's for purchased materials and services to support managing project budgets and cost control.
- Manages vendor and supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, managing lead times, and ensuring on-time delivery.
- Ensure all procured materials and items meet quality standards and specifications.
- Develop and maintain a supplier database, purchasing records and procurement process documentation.
- Develop and maintain a purchased materials and commodities catalogue for the company that can be used.
- Periodically analyzes total goods purchased to determine potential savings to be derived from volume discounts and/or alternate supply contracts and/or new supply relationships.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the Purchasing Coordinators, including ongoing coaching to support the development of the team.
- Identifies and implements process improvements in the procurement process with the objective of improving efficiency without sacrificing cost control.
- Support corporate cross functional project initiatives, including business system implementations and upgrades.
- Purchases materials, consumables, tools, parts, supplies and equipment.
- Negotiates the return of materials or equipment for repair or credit with suppliers.
- Follows up with suppliers on pending purchase orders issued and delivery dates.
- Expedites orders as needed.
- Solves problems or discrepancies on invoices in cooperation with accounts payable and suppliers.
- Assists estimating and Project Coordinators in sourcing materials and equipment and as needed, initiates RFQs for special pricing.
- Provide guidance and support to the Purchasing Coordinator's, as required, with issuing Purchase Orders (PO's) and processing material receipts.
- Reviews and verifies open PO reports and contacts suppliers to address overdue POs.
- Monitors market pricing for key inputs that influence and impact the cost of purchased goods and materials with the objective of managing price and supply chain risks.
- In addition to the above activities, this role is actively involved in leading corporate efforts and activities associated with ISO certification and auditing.

**Requirements**:

- 7+ years of senior purchasing experience ideally in construction or supporting industry.
- Demonstrated leadership ability effectively managing and coaching staff.
- Knowledgeable of construction material and equipment.
- Experience with supply chain audit and experience in developing automated purchasing processes.
- Excellent knowledge of ISO certification.
- Strong knowledge of standard contract terms and how they are applied in the purchasing process.
- Experience with purchasing / accounting software and proficient knowledge of Excel.
- Strong analytical skills and proficient in TCO, supply chain management and competitive bidding
- Strong document management.
- Proven track record of builiding successful and sustainable industry relationships.
- Experience with developing and analyzing KPI's.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
