What you’ll do:
Your primary responsibilities are to be competent in the fields of:
**Machining**
- Sets-up and operates machines such as engine lathes and knee milling machines.
- Create machined parts (generally in stainless steel) in small quantities using lathe, bandsaw, and milling machines.
- Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
- Clean, maintain and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.

**Assembly**
- Receive drawings and order information
- Pick parts
- Assemble according to drawings. Fit and assemble parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools

**Quality Control**
- Check first articles prior to final assembly
- Check production parts against part drawings and advise abnormalities or inconsistencies.
- Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
- Report deviations from specifications and tolerances to supervisor
- Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports

**Secondary responsibilities**

**Packaging and Shipping**
- Prepare goods for shipment.
- Pack them following a specific set of instructions.
- Create packing slips

**ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE**
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of lathe and milling operations, mechanical assembly, and packaging.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables
- Operate and maintain equipment in a clean and safe manner
- Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance
- Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers)
- Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

**Qualifications and Reporting**
- Requires 2 years of experience on related manual machinery.
- You will report to the Lead Machinist.

**Work Setting**
- General manufacturing shop

**Weight Handling**
- Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

**Tools**
- We supply all necessary tools
- Steel-toed safety boots are required

**Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities**
- Fast-paced environment

- Standing for extended periods
- Tight deadlines

**Measuring Tools**
- Gauges; Micrometers; Verniers
