Chair of The Board

Regina, Canada Public Employees' Pension Plan Full time

The Public Employees Pension Plan (PEPP), Canada’s largest defined contribution pension plan, is seeking an exceptional governance leader to serve as its next independent Chair of the Board. This is a rare and influential appointment at a pivotal time in the Plan’s evolution, offering the opportunity to shape the long-term financial security of more than 73,000 members across Saskatchewan.

PEPP is widely recognized nationally and internationally for its innovation in retirement income solutions, prudent oversight of more than $13.5 billion in assets, and its strong commitment to member-first governance. The incoming Chair will join a highly collegial, respectful, and consensus-driven Board united by integrity, fiduciary duty, and a shared commitment to safeguarding members’ retirement outcomes.

**Chair of the Board**

The Chair plays a central role in enabling the Board’s work, facilitating strong governance processes, supporting disciplined execution of the strategic plan, and ensuring alignment among PEPP, MEPP, and Plannera as responsibilities continue to evolve. This is a leadership role defined by influence rather than authority: success is rooted in relationship-building, structured facilitation, and a steady, impartial approach that brings forward all voices at the table.

The Chair works closely with Plannera’s executive leadership, leads PEPP Board and committee meetings, supports ongoing director education, and helps maintain PEPP’s strong reputation for thoughtful, ethical, and member-centric oversight. This role also offers the opportunity to contribute to national-level dialogue on pension governance and innovation.

They bring high ethical standards, sound judgment, and a firm grounding in public-sector values, including conservatism around conflict of interest and a commitment to transparency. They demonstrate comfort navigating complex governance environments and understand the responsibilities associated with serving as a trustee for a large public-sector pension plan.

They have proven experience chairing a corporate board or major committee, demonstrate maturity in governance processes, and are adept at managing Board dynamics with diplomacy and confidence. Pension or investment experience is beneficial but not required; what is essential is the ability to learn quickly, ask thoughtful questions, and support the Board in evaluating strategic decisions in a manner that respects governance boundaries.

**Qualifications and Credentials**

This opportunity will resonate with individuals seeking a gratifying opportunity to contribute to the oversight and continued development of an inclusive plan with a reputation as an industry leader for service excellence and good governance practices. Your “chair” awaits you
