Reporting to Community Engagement Coordinator - the Community Engagement Team Worker supports and assists homeless and street-involved individuals accessing Margaret’s Respite Centre, as well as assisting the agency in addressing community concerns. Hours per week may vary, some shiftwork may be required.

**RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE**:

- Engage individuals who are at-risk, with the hope of providing immediate needs assessment and then, using a triage-like method, working with these residents to access the services best suited to their need;
- Provide directions, TTC tokens and where necessary, accompaniment to services to best ensure the individuals can access necessary programs;
- Respond to Community concerns from neighbours, businesses, the police and other stakeholders;
- Act as a community resource for conflict resolution, mediation, facilitation, building consensus and strengthening community relationships;
- Work proactively and inclusively with all stakeholders to support productive community relations between clients and the Respite Centre
- Facilitate positive interaction between the police and those at risk that builds trust and communication;
- Report any safety issues or serious incidents that arise to Management Staff;
- Provide first aid as required;
- Identify overdose risk and administer naloxone as required;
- Build trusting and respectful relationships with individuals in the area;
- Provide crisis counseling and one-on-one support/brief intervention;
- Compile and maintain relevant referral sources and pertinent programs that benefit individual participants;
- Gather and present program statistics and other pertinent information in daily, monthly and annual reports; and
- Other duties as assigned by senior management.

**QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE**:

- College University Degree or equivalent in related field;
- Good Verbal and Written skills; and
- Computer skills including Microsoft office and outlook.

Shifts are typically 11 AM to 7 PM.
