**What you’ll do**
- As we embark on a bold new strategic plan, we’re expanding our Major Gifts team to ensure that we can unlock our potential, unleash our story, and fuel connections. Reporting to the Associate Director, we are looking for a talented Philanthropy Officer to join our Major Gifts team.
- In this role, you will be a key member of our Philanthropy team and play an integral role in helping to
_power the possible_. You will be responsible for the identification, cultivation, personal solicitation and stewardship of a portfolio of donors and prospects, with a heavy emphasis on securing gifts of $25,000 and higher. Working with our senior leadership team and a distinguished array of volunteers and clinical staff, you will inspire and nurture a community of proud, loyal supporters by building and deepening meaningful relationships that create a sense of awe and honour our purpose.
- More specifically, you will be responsible for:
- Actively managing a portfolio of 100 - 125 major gift prospects and donors, planning and participating in the implementation of individual strategies.
- Working collaboratively with other Foundation teams to coordinate strategies with assigned prospects, preparing tailored and personalized proposals and impact reports.
- Actively participating in and occasionally taking the lead with cultivation events.
- Arranging and leading donor solicitation and stewardship meetings, bringing in clinicians, hospital and foundation leadership where appropriate.
- Maintaining a stewardship portfolio, ensuring that donors receive personalized correspondence, reports and updates in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintaining and properly recording information about prospects and donors utilizing a Raiser’s Edge NXT.
- Producing briefing notes, solicitation plans and call reports to ensure that donor histories are part of the institution’s memory.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with physicians and hospital staff.
- Actively seeking to identify volunteers to support the major gift program, developing and implementing recruitment strategies and, providing ongoing professional support to volunteers.
**What you bring**
- Additionally, you demonstrate the following:
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and professional presence necessary to interact with donors, senior volunteers, senior hospital staff and other stakeholders.
- A demonstrated ability to identify and implement major gift strategic planning and solicitation strategies in support of funding priorities.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately and with discretion.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, business acumen, strategic aptitude and sound judgment.
- Exceptional and proven oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to efficiently organize and manage a diverse workload while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Resourcefulness and independence, while remaining comfortable working within the framework of a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and inspire junior philanthropy team members.
- CFRE Designation is an asset.
- Valid class 5 driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
- A flexible schedule that allows for after-hours events and meetings.
