The Claims Department of Everest Insurance Company of Canada, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd. is looking for a Claims Examiner to join our Toronto office.

This is an excellent opportunity for a claims professional to expand their scope of experience within a small, dedicated and highly collaborative team. You will have the opportunity to independently manage claim files within various lines of business including commercial auto, casualty and property. You will work closely with your manager and fellow team members to drive files to resolution and work collaboratively with Underwriting teams. This is a unique role for someone looking to grow their knowledge and experience across different lines of business and be an integral part of the EvCan claims team.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

- Direct examining of commercial auto and casualty claims of low to medium severity.
- Investigate, analyze, evaluate and adjust assigned claims in the most efficient, effective way while delivering a customer-centric experience.
- Exercise judgement to determine policy verification and coverage determination.
- Work to have a timely resolution to claims by developing case strategy; developing a case evaluation; and escalating issues as appropriate.
- Proactive and timely establishment and maintenance of claim reserves.
- Proactive and timely customer service both internally and externally responding to enquiries and participating in customer marketing efforts as required.
- Monitor and manage outside vendors, including third party adjusters and counsel within accepted budgets and protocols;
- Travel as needed.

Qualifications, Education & Experience:

- 2+ years insurance claims adjustment experience including commercial auto and accident benefits claims.
- Coverage evaluation skills.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of claims settlement, policy wording, fraud investigations and coverage issues
- Ability to cross-reference information with attention to detail.
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
- CIP or working towards designation is an asset..
