**Job Description**:
***:Under the general supervision of the Supervisor - Aquatics, Wellness, Children & Youth and the technical direction and guidance of the Youth Gang Prevention Program Executive Team and Steering Committee, is responsible for the successful implementation of the City of Thunder Bay Youth Gang Prevention program, with a focus on collaboration between the City and community partners.
**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Coordinates and supports the implementation, ongoing monitoring, and evaluation of the City of Thunder Bay Youth Gang Prevention program in partnership with community stakeholders and in accordance with the approved funding agreement(s), ensuring that targets are met.
- Provides technical direction, guidance and support to the Youth Navigator - Youth Gang Prevention, and Youth Mentor - Youth Gang Prevention.
- Assesses and assigns program referrals to ensure compliance with program criteria, promotion of diversity and representation, and appropriate caseload for Youth Navigator and Youth Mentor.
- Conducts research, identifies risks, gaps and duplications, and monitors evidence-based practices and trends; provides strategic advice and recommendations to Executive Team, Steering Committee and program partners.
- Develops and administers program policies, procedures and standards of service.
- Assesses financial and human resource needs, monitors and administers program budget and partner allocations, ensuring optimal and efficient resource allocation and compliance with funding agreement(s).
- Develops public education and outreach programs and related communication materials to build awareness of initiatives and disseminate information regarding evidence-based practices in addressing youth gang prevention.
- Coordinates all reporting to program funder, and submission of data to program evaluator; creates reports to Executive Team, Steering Committee, City Council and community.
- Establishes and facilitates cross-departmental, stakeholder and partner collaboration to improve direct service delivery to youth and families; cultivates opportunities for joint planning, decision making and resource sharing.
- Investigates and pursues opportunities to sustain the program’s objectives through networks, collaboration and funding sources.
- Performs other such related duties as may be assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Experience**:
- Degree in social services, child and youth care, justice, education, or a related human services discipline, along with four (4) years directly related experience in program management and community development; or
- Diploma in social services, child and youth care, justice, education, or a related human services discipline, along with six (6) years directly related experience in program management and community development
- Knowledge and understanding of prevention-focused principles, practices, resources and stakeholders related to youth and family well-being
- Knowledge of community safety and well-being challenges and factors that increase vulnerability in youth and increase likelihood of engagement in gang activity
- Experience conducting research and developing, designing and presenting communication and outreach materials
**Skills/Abilities**:
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to deliver presentations to a variety of audiences
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with superiors, co-workers, employees, funding agencies, community partners, and the general public
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to direct, motivate, evaluate and recognize staff; proven abilities to build consensus, to inspire confidence and to lead.
- Demonstrated skill in facilitating community events and workshops to generate productive and inclusive discussion, engagement and trust
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities
- Self starter with excellent project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills
