**The Opportunity**:
We are currently looking for a full time day shift Warehouse Operator based in our Richmond Service Centre. The Warehouse Operator will report to and work in conjunction with the Operations Manager, to drive in the areas of warehouse operations and health and safety.
**Responsibilities**:
- Reviews customer orders by selecting the proper material as indicated on the order form
- Checks the specifics of the material against the written order for accuracy
- Keys bar orders and sheet orders in the Mainframe computer system
- Packages the order in a safe and secure manner as per standards and customer requirements
- Transfers the packaged order to a staging area for shipment
- Assists in the shipping, receiving and loading of trucks, as well as order picking and packing
- Processes and ships paperwork as required
- Assists in assignments with respect to warehouse housekeeping and equipment maintenance
- Performs all work with adherence to health, safety and environmental practices
**Skills and qualifications**:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- 3 - 5 years of experience in material handling is required, preferably in the metal processing and distribution industry
- Sit down counterbalance lift truck experience preferred; overhead crane experience is an asset
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, Access and Mainframes; strong math skills
- Must be able to demonstrate precision measuring skills and competent operation of machinery and material handling equipment
- Keen attention to detail
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Safety conscious and strong knowledge of health and safety procedures relevant to the position, in compliance with the provincial regulations and the company’s policies
- Ability to work with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: From $29.55 per hour
