Quality Control Technician

Greenhouse is seeking a Quality Control Technician to join our QA Team Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the QC Technician is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day Quality operations including the implementation and monitoring of quality and sanitation to facilitate compliance with company objectives and regulatory requirements.
Statement of Work & Responsibilities:
- Ensure Operations team is following established SOP’s, SSOPs in accordance with CFIA, SQF Organic, FDA and Kosher requirements
- Oversee manufacturing process to ensure Food Safety and Food Quality policies and procedures are adhered to including but not limited by GMP, SQF Code, CFIA, HACCP, FDA, Kosher and Organic and any customer quality requirements
- Determine, recommend and ensure compliance with necessary departmental procedures in conjunction with the Quality Assurance Manager
- Audit and maintain records necessary for quality control
- Assist with the approval/release/rejection of all raw materials, finished goods and in-process materials
- Responsible for departmental non-conformances and implementation of corrective action ensuring all corrective actions are documented and outstanding actions closed in a timely manner
- Champion the Quality & Safety Risk Assessment program, including hazard identification and implementation of controls to protect the safety and well-being of all employees, safety of company product and environment
- Manage Retention Samples and lead the investigation into customer complaints and issues related to quality
- Guarantee compliance to the sanitation program by verification of the sanitation program on a consistent daily basis
- Collect samples and perform Micro analysis according to technical SOPs
- Oversee Allergen Management program on a consistent daily basis
- Review the CAR and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions
- Able to conduct Mock Recall exercises, traceability
- Confirm all ingredient and packaging receipts to meet or exceed specifications and communicate any deviations in a timely manner
- Conducts product and environmental sampling for physical, chemical and microbiological testing
- Support the production department with training in food safety concepts to ensure all team members understand the why behind the procedures
- Oversight of the sanitation team and chemical supplier
- Ensures that food safety system implementation is consistent with the written programs.
- Performs other QA/QC duties as assigned
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Food Science, Quality or related discipline.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Quality within a food manufacturing environment, preferably food/beverage industry
- Knowledge of quality systems. GMP, HACCP, SQF certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience in CIP and Sanitation.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Problem solver who is results-oriented, adaptable, and organized
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Knowledge about Microbiology, prepare chemical Solutions (SDS, MSDS), Titration and math oriented.
