Coastal Pacific Xpress is currently seeking a passionate and motivated **Team Lead, Dispatch** to join our winning team

**ABOUT THE ROLE**:
The Team Lead, Dispatch is responsible for reviewing daily and weekly workloads to achieve departmental and facility objectives. This role is charged with the goal to effectively and efficiently manage the development and directions of the operational team to drive the growth of revenue, technical productivity, and promote high quality customer satisfaction. In addition, the Team Lead, Dispatch provides support to the dispatchers and administrative team.

Reporting into the Manager, Canadian Dispatch, your responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:
**Report to the Operations Manager**
- Working with the Operations Manager, IT Support and the Process Improvement Manager to efficiently utilize Truck Mate to strategize process improvements
- Responsible for providing feedback on appropriate staff levels to meet requirements of the department
- Partake in the hiring process of new employees
- Review service rates with the Operations manager and monitor revenue on a daily load basis.
- Operational and Equipment concerns
- Day to day operational issues

**Manage Caller/Shipper/Consignee Relationships**
- Provide support for customer concerns
- Proactively reach out to key customers and for additional freight
- Securing additional freight and quoting customers rates to ensure trailer space is maximized
- Secure and negotiate rates with carriers

**Monitor and Oversee Daily Duties of Team Members**
- Prioritizing activities and delegating individual tasks to the team.
- Confirm power for the day
- Arrange carriers with brokerage department
- Providing support and managing team members including Dispatch, Dispatch Support, and Customs
- Review dispatch planning to ensure OTD while creating efficient route mileage - Lane planning and management
- Reviewing driver pay issues with the Driver Manager
- Manages inbound shipment ETA’s to maximize efficiency and ensure customer needs are met.
- Collaborates with the operations team to determine equipment requirements and schedule for the day
- Monitor and distribute additional work

**Collaborate with Operations Managers and Operations Staff on scheduling and shift coverage**
- Shift scheduling
- Vacation and sick coverage
- Coordinate and provide training to team members
- Employee development and recognition

**Planning and Dispatch**
- Review in transit and next day loads
- Plan and optimize day of and next day loads if needed
- Work closely with all other dispatch divisions for support
- Dispatch maintenance, dropping orders onto trips if needed
- Workflow is spread between the dispatch
- Work with partner carriers to secure trucks at cost effective rates for uncovered loads

**Admin / Trip Monitoring**:

- Start the day by reviewing day notes and following up with the issues
- Review in transit loads to make sure OTD is not affected
- Review Customer daily work flow
- Communicating to customers/operators on delays (if needed)
- Keeping system updated (if needed)
- Deal with breakdowns (rescue options or repairs, update customers, trips and document)
- Minimize deadcalls - make sure to advise all when loads are delayed
- Creating Customer/Dispatch SOP’s

**WHAT YOU BRING**:

- 3-5 years’ experience working in an FTL & LTL transportation environment in a planning or dispatch role.
- Scheduling or customer service experience.
- Experience working with company drivers, owner operators and third party carriers.
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Excellent customer service abilities with a natural desire to provide exceptional service and build strong relationships with Drivers.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment to ensure accuracy, compliance and a team culture of excellence.
- Proven analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to quickly understand and identify issues and propose solutions.
