The PLC Post Partum Unit Manager is a key leadership role in Maternity Care and reports directly to the Manager of the Labour and delivery and Post Partum Care. This position is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, leadership and organization over the activities of patient care services in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. These activities also will include the integration of various resources to carry out these activities. The position is also responsible and accountable for making key decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for establishing and contributing to the achievement of the goals of maternal care. The PLC Post Partum Unit Manager is directly responsible for the daily operations and strategic development of clinical service and research within these specific areas. This role is responsible for integration of best practice research and safety/quality improvement service models and process pathways in collaboration with clinical and medical leads.
Description
The Peter Lougheed Center (PLC) Maternity Care Department is a level two urban hospital that cares for approximately 4500 families per year. The families we care for are highly diverse with respect to culture, language and socioeconomic status. We care for our families with a diverse team through a number of service streams, including maternity triage, antepartum labor & delivery, obstetrical pre-admission clinic, obstetrical operating room, obstetrical recovery room and postpartum. Our goal is to provide care to our families seamlessly along the perinatal continuum through teams that share the goals of innovation, safe/ effective/ efficient clinical care, responsible use of resources and an inclusive, supportive and positive team environment. Working under the direction of the Patient Care Manager and working closely with the Unit Manager of Labor & Delivery, the Unit Manager of Postpartum is responsible for day-to-day operations within the unit in a way that aligns with the departmental goals of innovation, safe/ effective/ efficient clinical care, responsible use of resources and an inclusive, supportive and positive team environment. Key responsibilities of the role include recruitment and selection, fiscally responsible staffing, patient experience, staff experience and quality improvement.

**Required Qualifications**
