Project Manager

We are seeking a Project Manager to join our team in Winnipeg, MB. Or Toronto, ON.
The Project Manager is responsible for the effective management & delivery of assigned projects. These projects may take the form of technology implementations or business process improvements. This is a highly visible role interfacing with all levels of stakeholders across the business. The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring projects are well planned & executed, and that key stakeholders are kept informed on a regular basis. They must be able to take active leadership in timely decision making, and manage scope, milestones, risks, budget, and project interdependencies.
This is a critical role in the organization requiring a combination of strong project management, technical and interpersonal skills to be successful. They must be able to demonstrate a keen understanding of our complex business and industry.

**The Project Manager will**:

- Be responsible for planning, governance and overseeing the successful delivery of projects throughout the life cycle; governance controls, and monitoring project progress
- Partner with business, IT, and vendor teams to understand strategic initiatives and critical success factors
- Create project plans and roadmaps for timely delivery of all assigned projects
- Keep leadership and stakeholders informed with detailed and accurate visibility to project status (key decisions, dependencies, issues, risks, metrics, budget, milestones) on a standard cadence through status reporting and project/resource reviews
- Lead project status meetings with teams and leadership
- Use project management best practices across the entire project life cycle
- Review project plans/activities and provide feedback to Execuctive Sponsor(s) and EPMO leader
- Ensure effective project governance
- Ensure that project financials and forecasts are managed and monitored
- Oversee project resource planning. Determine staffing needs for projects and work with business/IT leaders to coordinate the assignment of staff to projects.
- Work with key stakeholders, managing all aspects of program delivery including scope, schedule, risks, costs, resources
- Execute the communications plan to ensure frequent, accurate, and timely communication to all stakeholders, including senior executives
- Ensure all stakeholders are kept informed of progress and issues

- Strong sense of independence, ownership, and initiative
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Minimum 5 years’ progressive project management experience
- Experience planning and implementing technology and / or business projects
- Experience with traditional and innovative project management processes, techniques, tools across agile, waterfall, iterative methods
- Experience with contract and vendor management
- Ability to distill complex issues, develop and implement effective strategies to drive alignment across multiple constituents and client groups
- Experience in the group benefits or insurance industry
