**Position summary**
Reporting to the Vice-President, University Services and Finance (VP, USF), the Associate Vice-President, Finance, Procurement, and Planning (AVP, FPP) is responsible for providing strategic direction for all accounting, financial reporting, treasury, procurement and strategic financial services to the university through the units under their mandate. The AVP, FPP ensures that these functions and services are performed in a manner that protects the University’s reputation, safeguards its physical/financial assets, and maintains financial viability while meeting the priorities of the institution, as determined by the senior administration and the Board of Governors.
The AVP, FPP requires both vision and strong leadership across the institution, to achieve the University’s expectations on the stewardship of funds received and the accurate reporting of these funds. They work collaboratively with faculty and staff within USF in order to establish policies and ensure effective and efficient processes for delivery of Financial Services, Treasury and Supply Management.
This position leads a team of over 100 full time employees who report into the AVP’s leadership team which include the following direct reports:
- Director, Finance Service Partnership
- Director, Financial Reporting
- Director, Resource Planning
- Director, Procurement
- Director, Investment and Treasury
- Director, Risk Management and Insurance
**Your principal responsibilities will be to**:
- Direct and support a Finance, Procurement and Planning team committed to the vision, goals and priorities set by the VP, USF.
- Oversee budget process, financial statements, all university accounts, endowments, investments, finance partnerships, cross university funding and grants.
- Drive continuous improvement in the services and operations of the units under your mandate, by demonstrating an understanding of client needs and embracing best practices.
- Demonstrate and promote collaboration within other departments throughout the organization to ensure institutional priorities are achieved and services are delivered seamlessly.
- Develop, implement and communicate finance, treasury and procurement strategies in support of the University's goals and objectives.
- Manage Executive and Board financial reporting and report writing for Executive and Board audiences.
- Provide advice and recommendations to senior leadership on finance issues affecting the institution.
- Participate on several committees and boards and is responsible for reporting on institutional funds.
- Demonstrate high level of business and political acumen, and stakeholder engagement.
- Inspire confidence in others to deliver on desired results and outcomes in alignment with institutional goals.
**Minimum Qualifications**
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business or other related discipline combined with a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation are required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive financial experience in an academic or large complex business environment with various financial units.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience at a senior leadership level.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and success in developing a vision and leading people to achieve high-level performance and outcomes while delivering exemplary service is required.
- Ability to influence, collaborate and inspire others to achieve operational goals.
