Health Information Management (HIM) manages the collection, storage, maintenance, retention of and access to patient health records. The HIM department ensures each health record is complete and accurate for ongoing patient care. Coded information is used for multiple operational uses including the submission of data to CIHI, MoHLTC, Stats Canada, the World Health Organization (WHO), and other jurisdictional and national agencies.
The health record communicates between health care providers, who use its information for decisions and diagnoses, further investigations, interventions, treatment plans and follow up care. Our goal is to facilitate exceptional patient care, by providing high quality data, to ensure appropriate funding and resource allocation.
**Job Summary**:
**What the Role is**
Reporting to the Director, Health Information Management, the Manager, eHIM, Data Integrity, Quality Assurance & Compliance is responsible for departmental operations and provides direct leader coaching and support to the Coordinator for Chart Management UH, Transcription & Chart Completion and the Coordinator VH Chart Management & CIC Lead. The Manager participates on EHR committees and projects, and leads HIM related digital implementations. The role oversees eHIM data governance and compliance reporting responsibilities related to standards, communications, and education (HIM staff and clinical areas).
The Manager contributes to innovative business case development and implementations as required. In addition, the role strengthens the e-HIM analytics program and use of the BI data warehouse to create automated audits and reporting processes, improving accuracy, timeliness and integrity of electronic clinical documentation.
The role is accountable to direct, control, and evaluate the delivery of department services. They are responsible for translating decisions of the program leadership into execution, by utilizing relationship management and working with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the necessary outcomes. The Manager ensures their team and department operations are aligned with our mission, vision and values, while working together to successfully achieve our strategic objectives.
This role is accountable for day-to-day department activities, including the management of human and material resources, day-to-day staffing and scheduling, development and support of a healthy workplace, risk and utilization measurements, and facilitation of improvement initiatives and change management, while operating within approved operational budgets and financial guidelines and controls. A major focus of the role is fostering effective working relationships and networks within the team/unit and with other teams across the organization and improves collaboration and communications with providers, leaders, ITS and other regional partners.
