**School Based Healthy Relationships Program**

**Group Facilitator**

**Part Time Contract - Casual - during school hours (hours vary)**

**Salary : $28.86hr**

**Description of Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Group facilitator will facilitate school groups/workshops in French or in English within the four Ottawa School Boards. The school based Healthy Relationships program is an initiative funded by the Ministry of Community and Social Services and coordinated by the Eastern Ottawa Resource Centre (EORC).

The program’s long-term objective is to prevent and address issues of violence against women and the impact on children and youth. The purpose of the program is to encourage and foster positive healthy relationships and self
- awareness. Groups and workshops consist of facilitator and teacher led discussions and activities based on topics such as self-esteem, body image, healthy relationships, communication, feelings and gender role stereotypes.

Youth will be given the opportunity to ask questions, formulate, share and express feelings in a safe and constructive way. The objective is that these learnings will be integrated into their peer and future intimate relationships.

**Responsibilities**
- Lead in the co-facilitation of the group with school personnel
- Prepare group sessions and share content ahead of time with school co - facilitator
- Become familiar with the material in advance
- Help with the set-up of the room and activities for each session
- Debrief, provide feedback along with the documents that need to be filled at end of each session, mid and end of group evaluations, etc.
- Have access to and the ability to use technological tools if required
- Prepare final report
- Link client back with the Center and/or other resources as required.
- Give ongoing feedback and report to the Program Coordinator.

**Qualifications**:

- BSW or related social science related field.
- One to two years’ experience working with school aged children
- One to two years’ experience with group facilitation, animation, leading and handling children’s groups or related experience
- Knowledge of issues related to child development/ psychology, parenting skills and family violence and Violence against women.
- Knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act and more specifically those articles referring to child abuse.
- Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written fluency in the language which the group is offered in (French or English)
- Ability to work in a way that advocates respect for diversity and inclusiveness
- Ability to work with individuals in a way that values and respects clients in their decision-making process
- Willingness to maintain high quality services, client centered services through excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility in working hours
- A valid driver’s license is not required for this position, but the employee is responsible for their own transportation.
- complete and show a Police Records Check for Service with the Vulnerable Sector by Regional Police Services.
