**Qualifications**
- Proof of Personal Support Worker certification,
- Is respectful of client’s person and property, right and privacy, pleasant interpersonally, cheerful, tactful and courteous to Weston Gardens clients, their families and friends
- Free from health problems that may be injurious to the client or the PSW as he/she performs delegated tasks, as well as evidence of good personal health habits
- Possession of the emotional and mental maturity necessary for establishing and maintaining a good work relationship with the client, clients family
- Ability to perform physical tasks that care necessary for the position; i.e., transferring, lifting clients, maneuvering and lifting equipment, if appropriate, e.g., wheelchair, walker that is necessary to provide effective, safe client care
- Regular availability
- CPR and First Aid Certification renewed yearly, copy to be provided to the Director of Care
- Excellent team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patient care documentation.
- Able to respond to crisis situations with demonstrated critical thinking.
- Able to comply with the physical demands of the unit.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to function as a team player.
- Demonstrated patient - focused care.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Second language is an asset, especially Italian
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

**Key Responsibilities**
- As the PSW, you will provide planned patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with the provincial standards of care.
- The PSW works within an interdisciplinary team to provide patient care.
- The PSW will ensure consistency in approach and optimum benefit for the patients by assessing, and identifying patient goals, planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient’s progress.
- Teaches and evaluates the learning of patients, families, Nursing / PSW Students.
- Assists the client to maintain good personal hygiene, grooming and dressing and daily living activities.
- Assists in implementing and maintaining a healthful, safe environment through the provision of effective safety measures.
- Assists with the client with ambulation, mobilization and transferring, elimination/toileting, rehabilitative processes, household management, use and care of adaptive aids, nutrition and plans and prepares nutritious meals.
- Assists the client to maximize abilities by encouraging the client to become as independent as possible according to the Plan of Care and promoting the inherent worth and dignity of each client.
- Demonstrates understanding of client needs, providing cognitive, social emotional and psychological support to the client and other members of the family.
- Assists the family by establishing relationships with client and family which transmits trust and confidentiality.
- Report to the charge nurse and or the Director of care for client changes in needs, or concerns.
- Numerous other responsibilities as needed
